How would you handle such a situation?

The term “active shooter” describes someone engaged in killing or attempting to kill people, most often with firearms. It is one of the most traumatic events someone can experience, whether it occurs in the workplace, at school or in public places like malls or movie theatres.

As shown in the news, active-shooter incidents can happen at any given time, anywhere. Security guards have to know how to react and adjust swiftly to help shield as many people as possible from harm.

Upon completion of this training, the student will be able to :

• Know the role of a security professional during an active shooter situation
• Recognize the profile of an active shooter
• Identify security breaches that could be used for an attack
• Use the “Run - Hide – Fight” strategy
• Communicate key information to emergency services
• Efficiently collaborate with appropriate public security forces
